From the Director of the
Sunbelt Senior Professional Golf Tou
r

January 9, 2010

As we begin a new year and a new decade, the Sunbelt Tour must continue to adjust to the economic environment that has evolved over the past two years. Potential players have less discretionary income and businesses have less revenue, so they must reduce expenses. Unfortunately, some businesses have misguided thinking that they should cut back on advertising when, in factthey should do more. Our goal is not to wait for the recovery, but to be a part of it!

We intend to continue to work very hard to show potential corporate partners how we can bring value to their advertising dollars. At the same time, we want to add more value to your membership (other than just paying a lesser tournament entry fee,) by providing travel discounts and adding purchasing power. Sometimes we spend considerable man hours to pursue potential player rewards to only have them disappear right at that critical moment. But, we will continually try to add the highest value possible to your membership.

The most valuable asset we have is YOU! Your continued support by not just playing, but by joining the Tour through a membership, your participation in as many events as possible, your promotion of the Tour by encouraging other fellow professionals to participate in our tournaments, and your vigilence in seeking out corporate sponsors are the formula that will make your Tour better.

I want to personally and publicly thank these players for their efforts in helping us to secure venues for the 2010 season. Ken Green, Dave Rummells, Tim Conley, Tom Eubank, John Ross, Gene Jones, Glen Davis, Mike Smith, Mickey Jones, Roderick Short, Tom Gaines, and Barry Holt. A team of volunteers can accomplish way more than one or two individuals.

Our 2010 schedule is starting to take shape, and yes, there will continue to be changes, with both additions and deletions. Within the next few weeks we should have it completed. Our first event is nearly two months away and I know many of you are getting anxious to tee it up, but with this being the coldest winter in 25 years, you'll need the extra time to get ready. If you all will take this time to recruit at least one more new member, and you all send in your membership applications, we will start the new season with a great field. Membership applications can be found on the Membership Info page of this website.

Sincerely,
Don Barnes, PGA
